Age: Looks 17 - Real age is unknown, assumed to be a couple thousand years. The youngest of the Legendary Nine Tailed Beasts

Species: One-Tailed Tanuki Sand Demon. Partially humanized via consumption of Gaara's conscience, and mind.
Sexuality: Shukaku cares not! If its desirable he shall devour it.

[what you see isn't what is] Appearence

Shukaku has all of the characteristics of Gaara himself because of taking over, and embodying him. With that being said he has a slender and exotic form with short brilliant deep red hair standing at about 5'8". Nice smooth and flawless mocha skin, full soft lips, and heavy black ringed eyes from nights of no sleep; conveniently giving him the look of a raccoon, which Shukaku's original form is that of a large sand Tanuki. His eyes however have no visible pupil, or iris which is about the only sign that would cause people to question whether he is actually human just by looks, or not. He also has a tattoo on the left side of his forehead. It is the Kanji "ai", or "love". Shukaku himself has a very deep luring scent; one that is definitely identified as heavy in demon blood. A rich voice as well. As for dress; usually deep rich colors. Black, reds, oranges, and browns. His dress is unique; it could be considered neu-exotic almost. He dresses somewhere between very fanciful, exotic [that in which hails from desert type clothing. Think like this and this. Although not with that tope of course. usually he'll wear fishnet tops] and sometimes revealing with a more modern, rebellious edge typical of your highschool "punk" [or.. whatever] all in which contributes to his lure, and uniqueness. Usually the his dress is in deep reds, and black with splashes of gold, or other earthly colors such as reddish-brown, and the like. Often wearing leather chokers, jewel belts, golden cuffs, and prayer beads. He has addapted a few tattoes. Tirbal design on the outside of his forearms, and this on his back.

The main difference between Gaara, and Shukaku in looks is (besides attire), because Shukaku is a sand demon himself Gaara's flesh has ultimately been preserved with his sand; thus he has no need to carry around the gourd of sand. [It is still flesh, but it is flesh completely infiltrated by sand thus easily reverted back into sand which explains the rock hard layer of sand covering his body at all times] Also that he can make anything earth-based into sand doubles this lack of need.

[what is it you see is what isn't] Personality

Corrupted, would be the golden word. Twisted, grotesque, rather amoral, shameless. Something horrifically beautiful, neurotic, and deranged. Young, rebellious, wild, playful extravegant. The young demon has no empathy what so ever, and is extremely sadistic. He will torment his victims in such a wonderfully grotesque fashion enjoying every second of their beautiful plea's. He cares not about anyone he uses so long as they satisfy his desires which gives to say he is very selfish. He also had a vicious temper that you wouldn't even see coming until its too late. While Shukaku seems emotionally driven he is not in the least an extrovert with it or stupid, and his eccentricities should not always be something taken lightly. He can be very stubborn, and very determined to get what it is that he wants. A maelstrom of misfortune; embodiment of carnal rage, and desire. A hedonist with a specific desire to collect those seen befitted and in turn take them in to him, or other wise build himself a 'family'. He can even seem protective over his 'property'. A typical trait of a Sadist.

Shukaku, being the youngest of the legendary nine tailed beasts has some traits that of a teenager driven by their desires. Typically a blatant disregard for most things. He is macabre, and lustful; sexually, and non sexually. [bit of a horny bastard though admittedly] Very much enjoys the sensation of killing, and the smell/feel of blood, and will relish in the opportunity to slaughter. You could say he has a fixation with human bodies - whole, or dismentaled all the same. Shukaku can be very lascivious, with a very luring, dark, and powerful aura. He is intelligent, and does have a definite mature side - though also a youthful childish side. Somewhat mysterious, and capable of being quite manipulative when desired although he normally manipulates the truth, and is in fact very rare you would hear Shukaku flat out lie. He is uniquely incoherent in manner that often relates to a schizophrenic type of speech. (Which has become less so with the adaption of Gaara) Shukaku also seems to have a twisted artistic side. One that dabs into body modifications, and ink. Shukaku is also uniquely poetic, and very capable of deep and intellectual conversation if you can get past his strangeness. Like most good teenagers Shukaku enjoys Sake.

Abilities/Strengths: Shukaku is one of the Nine Legendary Tailed Demons. As so he is exceptionally strong. His senses are keen, basing a lot on smell, and taste. His hearing is also incredibly tuned, sight as well. Shukaku has an extremely macabre, and sadistic presence; lustful disposition that will suck in those weaker, or similar intent of desire. As he has embodied Gaara, and devoured his conscience Shukaku has quite simply consumed Gaara. Thus adapting to something more human Shukaku has gained more power; that in which matches the four, or five tailed in their basic form as it is said with Hosts the Tailed Demons are stronger than they are on their own.

Shukaku has the ability to wield anything earth based due to his original form being composed of hardened sand. He can make the ground into sand and condense it into impenetrable objects, and/or defenses. He can crush someone with it in seconds flat, he can make clones, and duplicates. He can travel with it. He can do absolutely anything with sand; expand a single grain into a thousand and do anything with it. A unique thing that he is capable of is 'shape shifting'. Using sand/ground/mud/dirt/whatever he envelopes it around his body and can mold into it in order to make his body shift into something else; creating an illusion that he is part of the ground, or wall, or that he is someone else, ect. Literally 'become the wall.' He normally keeps a strong layer of sand enveloped around his body which protects him automatically. Without fail almost absolutely nothing gets passed his defenses of sand. The sand seems to sometimes come from no where; this is because as addressed above Gaara's body has been consumed by the demon, and thus his skin is merely a fabrication made by sand. He can also transport himself with it from one place to another.

However Shukaku has two elements; earth, and wind. Thus he can also use wind against opponents creating sandstorms, or shooting balls of sand with the back power of wind propelling it. He can also create wind tunnels much like tornadoes that will destroy everything in its path. Combined with sand makes the attack devastating, and painful. This natural gift of winds element makes the sand quick, and its attacks, or techniques can be so fast they are unavoidable. Continuing on wind techniques he can breath, spit, or scream streams of wind that knock down anything in its path. He can also spit condensed balls of wind that easily knock out and obliterate its target ranging in any size from minuscule to gigantic. Generally able to manipulate wind.

Also simply his demonic presence can cause a form of hypnosis to those susceptible. He's a demon, and.. he is demonic..

Weapons: Sand, and wind. Suppose you could include intelligence, and his 'body'.

Weaknesses: Shukaku is the youngest of the nine as I have mentioned before, and thus he is much less experienced or wise. He is the least controlled, and his lust often gets the better of him. Shukaku as the youngest has all of the weaknesses one that is the youngest would have. Next to the Kyuubi, Shukaku is a two year old. He is the baby of the nine, and thus is not as developed nor anywhere near as strong. His lack of experience and knowledge really shows sometimes especially when beside a demon much older than he. Matter of fact he is the weakest of the bunch. [Not a good idea to underestimate him though, these demons are legendary. He is wickedly dangerous and being in Gaara's body, his hatred feeds Shukaku's strength making him stronger than that of the four tail] Shukaku can be obscenely childish sometimes; especially when bored which can lead to.. bad situations. Due to his youth he can make a lot of petty errors that lead to big messes. He is often overconfident in himself. Also, Shukaku is a carnivore, or cannibal. Thus feeding off flesh, blood, and entrails of mammals with a particular liking to mortals. This might become a problem.

His rampage for blood, lusting, and desire driven attitude can sometimes lead to compulsive behavior that will likely be quite the problem in Econtra. He often disregards rules, and thus gets himself in to trouble frequently all too often getting into situations that are a bit over his head. His incoherent or cryptic ways of speech and thoughts (with a minuscule amount of Gaara's conscience still in tact) make him difficult to understand sometimes; all but adding to his derangement. (I imagine this will also make the readers a little confused too sometimes.. >_>) Shukaku being young also carries quite a bit of egotism which is another a massive downfall. I mean.. he was sealed into a fucking tea kettle. How degrading.

Becoming partially humanized Shukaku has consumed the nihilistic, loneliness, and hatred for all things breathing. While this 'loneliness' is often a very faint thing due to the fact that Gaara's conscience is about 4% next to Shukaku it is evident and perhaps may come out more in the future. These feelings being things Shukaku does not quite understand (the loneliness mainly, nihilism and hatred he enjoys) it is a downfall as well as an ignition. [Though he uses it well. Shukaku isn't the hateful one.]

Element wise his sand and earth techniques are weak against lightening, and wind techniques weak against fire. He is also weak against those with exceptional speed such as the Uchiha's, and Rock Lee. Those who are fast enough to disappear to the naked eye are definitely able to breach his defenses. His sand, as in the sand that comes from HIS form shares his conscience and thus should his sand be defeated he weakens. The sand he creates is a slave to his conscience. While his sand is strong, the shared conscience is a weakness.

[how it came to be] History

Shukaku's History before Gaara is relatively unknown. It was said that Shukaku was born from the corruption of an ancient sunagakure monk, and thus his origins are from the Land of Wind. Like most tailed demons he was violent, and rageful. Bloodlustingly destroying everything in his path. How it is that he was sealed into a teakettle is unknown, but it happened. Shukaku had been sealed into two other shinobi from Sunagakure before he was sealed into Gaara. Gaara as a host was something different than the other two. Due to the fact that Gaara was destined by his father to become a weapon, Shukaku was not caged within the boy, but instead implanted into his mother while Gaara was still unborn. Sacrificing the mother to seal the demon inside of this child yet to be born Shukaku had been inside Gaara's conscience from the very start.

Shukaku laid dormant for a few years while Gaara was young. Due to not being sealed and locked into a cage within the boys vessel however, every time Gaara nodded off Shukaku ate away a piece of his conscience. This process forced Gaara to become an insomniac, and living in solitude where even with his two elder siblings Gaara became lonely. The insomnia causing neurosis, the constant neglect, and fear of the other villagers causing hatred. Little by little Shukaku surfaced more, and more. The boy was all too soon the dormant one; he took an oath to himself that he would only love himself and even burned a tattoo into his forehead to forever mark this. That love for himself which Gaara held was unknowingly love for Shukaku. Gaara himself was all but lost. As such it wasn't that long after the voice in the boys conscience was actually Gaara, and the active conscience was actually Shukaku. This going unknown to his family, or Gaara himself. Countless lives were consumed in blood lust compulsion. As Gaara grew older, the more times he nodded off, or became unconscious the more Shukaku eat away at him.

It was a fight with Naruto - the boy who was host to the Nine Tail Kyuubi - that resurfaced Gaara's conscience. Realizing that he could perhaps become like Uzumaki Naruto one day Gaara sought out to become Kazekage. Amazingly enough he got the position not long after. Although this brief moment of human surfacing didn't last very long. With Akatsuki in pursue of the Tailed Demons Gaara was defeated. Upon being brought back to their hideout they prepared its extraction which would raise the spirit from within him, and draw it out. Much to their dismay just as Shukaku was at the tip of the surface Gaara was pulled into Econtra. Due to surfacing the demon spirit, and time unconscious Shukaku soon consumed Gaara's consciousness, and took control of his body. Suiting to the human vessel, Shukaku awakes in the white room that is Econtra.
